We ran the session again for CII members in August. Seven months on, the policies were in place. The confidence wasn't.
We ran Hidden AI in your business again in August, this time for members of the CII. Same session, a different room and a noticeably different starting point.
Seven months on, the picture had moved. Almost everyone said their policies already mention AI. Several described mature setups: sandboxed tools, rules for checking AI output, training and named owners. Yet confidence that people use AI responsibly averaged 6.5 out of 10. Every vote was between 5 and 8; nobody went higher.
The gap has moved, not closed. In January the question was whether to write a policy. By August it was whether the policy matches what people do and how to keep pace with tools that change faster than any policy can.
The same structure as January: the risks of unmanaged adoption, a peer discussion on what good governance looks like and a practical framework across people, process and tech.
The January session, with the full recording, is here.
The checklist shared in the session helps you pressure-test your current approach and sense-check whether confidence is based on reality or assumption.
